Candy Shweder Up-Island Pottery

Candy Shweder created Up-Island Pottery more than 35 years ago, throwing in her home studio on Martha’s Vineyard, and selling at the flea market in Chilmark. She studied ceramics at Lill Street Studio in Chicago, Foothill College in Palo Alto, CA and The Palo Alto Art Center.

A critically acclaimed artist, she was designated an Illinois Artisan in 1995, and her work has been featured in the Museum Shop of the American Craft Museum -- both in its Rockefeller Center and Lincoln Center locations. She was also a member of Artisans 21, a cooperative gallery in Chicago, for over 30 years.

Up-Island Pottery is currently shown on Martha's Vineyard at Tending Joy in West Tisbury and the Vineyard Artisans Festivals.
